6P: The Practice of Pace
THE PRACTICE OF PACE:
We embrace healthy rhythms of work and rest for long-term health over short-term gains.

THE SIX PRACTICES OF WHOLE-HEARTED DISCIPLESHIP
Following Jesus is more than just an idea. Jesus invites us to live life in his way, a life animated by love for God and love for our neighbors that takes on concrete habits in our everyday life. These six practices form a community rule of life for our church. A rule of life is a set of values or practices that give shape to our life following Jesus. They aren’t “rules,” but a pattern, a template, for what following Jesus looks like.

UNHURRIED JESUS
THE GOSPEL OF MARK
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he got up, went out, and made his way to a deserted place; and there he was praying.”
Mark 1:35
The Gospel of Mark argues that believing in Jesus and practicing Jesus’ way are inseparable. The way Jesus lives his life is the way his students are to live their lives. Jesus lived a life of pace, a slower, intentional way of living in tune with God’s Spirit and God’s leading. To follow his way is to step out of hurry and into a life of rest and trust through slowing down, silence and solitude, embracing our limits, and practicing Sabbath delight.
PRACTICE GUIDES
1
SLOWING DOWN
When we slow down, we learn to trust God for our belonging and to see him providing in our lives.
2
SILENCE & SOLITUDE
When we step out of the noise and activity we learn to discern God’s voice and leading.
3
EMBRACING YOUR LIMITS
When we work from rest and not anxiety we can say NO in order to say YES to what God has in store for us.
4
SABBATH DELIGHT
God has designed us to stop, rest, worship him and celebrate life every week.
PRACTICING SABBATH

Sabbath is a weekly 24 hour period set aside to cease working, rest, worship God, and enjoy life.
During this series, our house church communities will be exploring this practice through The Sabbath Practice, a four-week practice by Practicing the Way. Connect with a community below to join the practice.

YOU WERE CREATED FOR COMMUNITY.
You weren’t meant to live life alone. That’s why at Wingfoot we believe the most important time you spend during your week isn’t an hour on Sunday but what happens every other day of the week as you live life with others.

The best way to work through these guides is in the context of community. House churches around the neighborhood will be discussing and practicing these things over the next few weeks. Find a community to join by here.
